your words about same-yness of new zines (in think the zine-making article said a similar thing acutally) are now making me think - hmm, i must DO something to make mine interesting as a physical object, rather than merely unobjectionable. it's so tempting to me tasteful... and thus dull. back before i got obsessed with zines i thought 'if i ever did a zine NOT THAT THAT WOULD EVER HAPPEN i'd just like do a cover with the title on it. it would be so non-embarrassing'. now i think - what's the point? anyway - the point is, make it interesting. and still tasteful... i will think about it. i dont have the fic yet.
i have a few reduced print zines - but the copy quality is pretty ok. it's just... too small. professional publishers do this too actually, though not on the same scale. some paperbacks are hardbacks but just smaller...
the idea of zines being confiscated makes me sad. those people never got their zines!!! so expensive. it also reminds me that when i went to amsterdam recently i took a zine with me in my handluggage and then started freaking out that i was going to have to open my bag for a random check, etc. fortunately... they checked the other bag ;) phew. wouldn't have had that problem with the internet.
in blake being exposed as a slash fan, meant that paul darrow (whose character was the most slashed) wouldn't be your friend any more. which was a thing people were sad about at the time. but it certainly wasn't a legal problem - just a... i am fed up of people being mean about me problem.
