Personally, I think missing scene prequel fics are a blast to do -- weaving in the missing bits in canon fun intellectually, and it's always a rush to get someone say "Wow, this really felt like a scene from the show!"

Also - if you haven't already, consider joining onedeadplotbunny which is a low-pressure comm. Mostly it's been people posting about their goals and cheerleading others, but sometimes someone posts a "How do you deal with...?" sort of post; interesting discussion have ensued.
